Personality:
|
They
say Wildlight is the opposite of his twin sister Wren. His
outgoing nature and ruggedness (recklessness, as some occasionally
say) offsets Wren's gentle silence. Those who know the Chief
know that his temper is quick and fiery, much like skyfire
that flashes in the night sky. Unknown to most, he's thoughtful
and sensitive, too, but prefers to keep 'weaker emotions'
to himself. Given the past full seasons' turn of events, however,
it's been harder to do so. Many of the tribe have noticed
his quiet and thoughtful periods and a seeming sense of distance
of late.
|
Likes:
|
Weather
in its severest forms, a good hunt, his family, when his tribe
is safe and content.
|
Dislikes:
|
Humans,
puckernuts, stripe-tails, dreamberry visions, opening up to
anyone on a personal, non-leader-like level. Letting others
down.
|
Fears:
|
That
the humans will destroy his tribe. That the strange bad luck
that has dogged the tribe will never be turned away. That
he will someday again use his powers in a way he will regret.
That he really was never meant to be a mate to another. That
he will never have a cub of his own and the burden of raising
his successor will fall upon his sister instead. That he will
fail to protect his beloved tribe during this time of trouble.

orange, somewhat unkempt hair that falls to mid-back; a portion
of which is drawn up into the chief's knot. The rest is kept
out of his eyes with headband with long ties.

|
Large
emerald green eyes, slightly slanted.

New
Green
Clothes:

Long
brown tight pants that lace up the side, calf-high tan boots,
a green loincloth, a green vest decorated with golden symbols.
In hot, humid weather, he dons only a loincloth.

Cold
Clothes:
|
Similar
to new green but wears a long green tunic covered in the same
golden symbols. Lately, he's also been wearing a bearskin
wrap to fend off the unusually bitter cold.
|
Jewelry:
|
A
golden torc he wears on occasion. An amber necklace that he's
put away.

History:
|
Wildlight
is the blood of seven chiefs, and the eldest of twins born
to Plainswalker and Riverwisp in a time of peace. When he
was very young, he held the name Farsight, because he had
the uncanny ability to predict the weather. Indeed, the very
heavens seemed to call to the young chief-to-be, and, more
often than not, a violent storm or a day of gusty wind found
the firey-haired elf outside so he could feel the wind or
rain upon his skin.
Little did he
know the relationship the weather would soon have with him.
When Farsight was nearly 300, he went on a hunting trip
with his mother, father, and twin sister. While chasing
branchhorn in the forest, the four were surprised by a wounded
bear. The bear killed Farsight's mother and father, but
when the bear turned to attack his sister, Farsight somehow
called a lightning bolt down from the heavens and killed
the bear.
He took Wildlight
as his name because of that moment.
Realizing the
effects that such control over the weather possessed, and
not daring to find out what repercussions changing the weather
patterns might have, Wildlight chose to keep his power hidden,
vowing never to use it and telling no one of it. Still,
what is hidden cannot necessarily be denied. Daily, he fights
the call of the energies of the skies. Daily, the struggle
grows more difficult, especially when his temper flares
or when he becomes irritated or angry. Each time Wildlight
has felt the need to use his power during times of great
duress, he has been left physically drained. He has even
reached the point of where it has been impossible to restrain
his powers--an event that caused the death of two beloved
tribesmates. He knows now that his notion of his powers
fading away is folly; he just doesn't know exactly how to
harness them. Thus, his struggle even now continues.
That struggle
makes him distance himself emotionally from others. He fears
he will hurt more of the ones he loves. Even now, the deaths
of his tribesmates still haunt him and their faces visit
him in his dreams. That, the stress of brutal attacks from
mysterious foes, a harsh White Cold that has claimed more
lives, the threat of Human invasion, and the departure of
the lovemate he finally dared to care for has even caused
him to doubt his ability to be a good leader and to doubt
himself. Though he loves his tribe dearly, there is a sadness
within him that he just can't shake, even though he's not
open about the cause or reason for his mood. He thinks it
will vanish if he distances himself from its cause.
The care and
well-being of his tribe is still Wildlight's greatest pride
and concern. He is the most content when his tribe is content
and without want- at least, he feels, that can be an accomplishment
within reach. Though the hollowness of too many recent losses
is still painful and keeps him distant, Wildlight has channeled
his frustrations into striving to be a better Chief; into
keeping his tribe safe. Maybe, just maybe, the extra effort
and an extra-watchful eye will lead his tribe into better,
less painful, times.

Bond
Beast:
|
Blackjaw, Alpha
Wolf, Age 5
A large, grey
wolf with a black face. The wolf can be somewhat tempermental
and, at times, can seem quite calculating. However, he is
a loyal friend to Wildlight. The wolf does tend to get edgy
around magic, especially Wildlight's Weather Shaping --
he seems to have a fear of storms.
